Chinese Lunar Calendar

March 2nd, 2010 | No Comments

Before their implementation of the Western solar calendar scheme, the Chinese almost exclusively followed their own lunar calendar for determining the times of planting and harvesting and festival holidays. Though people in China today use the Western calendar for almost all business, governmental and practical matters of daily life, the old system still serves as the basis for working out numerous recurring holidays. This coexistence of two calendar systems has long been acknowledged by the people of China.

However, this does not only apply to China, it also happens in most other Eastern countries, like Thailand, and most Arabic countries.

A lunar month is calculated by measuring the period of time needed for the moon to complete its full cycle of 29 and a half days, a standard that makes the lunar year a full eleven days shorter than its solar counterpart. This disparity is corrected every 19 years by the addition of seven lunar months.

The 12 lunar months are further divided into 24 solar divisions characterized by the four seasons and times of heat and cold, all of which bear a close relationship to the yearly cycle of agricultural work.

The Chinese calendar – very much like the Hebrew calendar- is a combination of the solar and lunar calendars in that it strives to have its years concur with the tropical year and its months coincide with the synodic months. It is not surprising that a few similarities exist between the Chinese and the Hebrew calendar.

For example, an average year has 12 months, a leap year has 13 months. An ordinary year has 353, 354, or 355 days, a leap year has 383, 384, or 385 days. When working out what a Chinese year will be like, one must make a number of astronomical calculations.

First of all, you have to work out the dates for the new moons. In these instances, a new Moon is the completely black Moon (that is to say, when the Moon is in conjunction with the Sun), not the first visible crescent, as is used by the Islamic and Hebrew calendars. The date of a new moon is then the first day of a new month.

The reason why the majority of countries which had their own calendars had to dump them in favour of the Western, Julian calendar that we use today, is business. First the British and then the Americans ran international business and they used the Julian calendar.Anyone who sought to work with them had to follow suit. This is why national policy often varies from local custom in Third World countries.

The government desires to deal on the International markets, but the ordinary family in the country can not. So, the government adopted the Julian calendar but the people only pay lip service to it. I live in Thailand and people here do not even use the 24 hour day divided into two halves. Their day has four sections of six hours each and the first part starts at 6AM, not midnight. Therefore, they have four 4 o’clocks a day, for example but no 7 o’clocks. They are also 543 years ahead of us, although this is more common, for example in Muslim countries.

Apocalyptic Dates Coming Soon

February 28th, 2010 | No Comments

Predicting the end of the world has probably been going on since man started thinking, whenever that was. It is warned about in Revelations in the Bible, so that must be about 2,000 years ago.

However, it is the predictions of Nostradamus that are the most well-known and most copious. Some biographical accounts of Nostradamus’ life assert that he was afraid of being victimized for heresy by the Inquisition, although neither prophecy nor astrology fell under their jurisdiction. He would have been in danger only if he had practiced magic to back up his predictions.

In fact, his contact with the Church as a seer and a physician were always very good. His short imprisonment at Marignane in late 1561 came about merely because he had published his 1562 Almanac without the prior consent of a bishop, contravening a recent royal decree.

Here then are a couple of the prophesies of the ending of the world and the annihilation of mankind.

December 21st, 22nd or 23rd 2012 are all possible dates for the ending of the world according to the ancient Mayan Calendar.

2012 has been determined by some to be the first potential date for the passing by of Planet X (Wormwood) and the demise of the world, as mentioned in Revelations, although this is fervently debated by Biblical experts and astronomers alike.

2012 is also the year given by Nostradamus as the possible demise. He gave three possible years for the apocalypse: 1994 and 1998 so this is his last opportunity to be correct.

2010 is the year so says the Hermetic Order of Golden Dawn.

In 1143 St Malachy prophesied that there would be only another 112 more Popes. The current Pope Benedict is the 111th. He also predicted that the final Pope would be known as Peter of Rome, so we will have to wait and see for this one.

2017 is the year specified to the Sword of God Brotherhood by the Angel Gabriel.

November 13th 2026 is the date according to a 1960 edition of ‘Science’ magazine. The author alleged that this would be the day that the planet’s human population would ‘reach infinity’.

2033 is held by many to be the 2000th anniversary of the crucifixion of Christ and a potential date for his return, which would indicate the demise of our Earthly period.

4,500,000,000 AD is the approximate date at which the Sun is due to explode and in so doing, destroy the inner solar system including our Planet. Nobody knows, but unless we destroy ourselves first, this latter date is probably the most accurate and scientific date for the destruction of the planet.

Owen Jones, the author of this piece, writes on many subjects, but is currently involved with custom wall calendars If you have an interest in calendars, organizers or promotional calendars, please go over to our website now at Promotional Desk Calendars

Laser Pointer Green

February 26th, 2010 | No Comments

This sort of laser beam was originally utilized as a pointer in lecture halls, or maybe a technologist might have used one whenever observing structural works. In fact any kind of situation where a very perceptible indicator was needed.

uranologists [amateur] might use them to good advantage highlighting stars and the heavens for their own researches.

They do have sensible employments but it would appear that they have been embraced as something of a geek pleasure thing. It is the ‘in’ object to have if you are to be viewed as hip.

These cursors are available in diverse colors all with different strengths of beam. The green seems to be the particular one that the eye picks up the easiest. The human eye is extra sensitive to green than red or blue evidently.

A laser pointer in green at only 532nm will outdo a red one at 650nm hands down. The red just appears as a dot, the beam vanishes in dark settings. The green works even better in the darkness and is a continuous beam visible for a huge length. I have observed one stockist who gives the distance as around 80 miles. Phew, this is some distance.

If you were to buy loads in diverse colors you could set up your own sort of laser show, which should look completely impressive.

When a laser pointer is operated in a communal place where members of the community are attending there are regulations and set of laws regarding the potency of the beam that may be used, i.e. only 1 mW of laser light. Every country has it’s very own set of guiding principle for the utilization of these type of laser pointers.

Indiscriminate use of them may create a danger especially if they are aimed in the direction of someones eyes, and more particularly if that person was operating a motor vehicle or piloting an aircraft. Not simply could it do damage to the person’s eyes but could prove perilous to protection because of the distraction factor.

I think if I was going away hiking in the mountains, or in fact anyplace where people were sparse I definitely would take one of these type of laser pointers in green and trust that if I got lost that it could help individuals to find me in the the instance of a liberation state of affairs.

People operate them for enjoyment nowadays, popping balloons, lighting matches, even safety matches with them.

There are re-chargeable models to be got which makes it probably inexpensive to employ them than to need to carry on purchasing new batteries.

It ought to be noticed that the green laser pointers do give out quite a lot of infra-red radioactivity but the improved products contain a built-in filter. A number of manufacturers of inexpensive models do not desire the added expenditure on production of the filters therefore they do not put them in. I definitely would suggest that you pay a little extra and get one containing a filter, for the sake of your own eyesight as well as somebody elses.

As with anything that you get, do your research and test out the various costs. There is quite a great deal of difference in prices and standard of products thus it is the best thing to look at all the products available, or as many as you could, and make your mind up whichever would offer you value for cash.

50mw Green Laser Pointer – A Laser Pointer With Clout

February 23rd, 2010 | No Comments

If you are going to buy a pointer with 50mW output I genuinely trust you are going to handle it with awareness.

I should certainly recommend that you use security glasses when making use of it as it has been established that extended exposure to 50mW of green laser beam might harm your vision.

Because these laser pointers are so widely available now and the lower outputs might be as cheap as $5, more and more individuals are acquiring them even though I do believe that something over 5mW is not legal in the US.

This can also mean that all diverse types of persons are buying them. A number of them are a lot more serious and are going to use their 50mW green laser pointer with precision and even so have fun by means of it, however others appear dead set to be as dense as they could and instigate as much destruction considering that is fun – it is not amusing for different people about them.

I always believe it is a huge disappointment when individuals misuse something for the reason that it constantly reflects unfavorably on all other users. I actually saw on one advertisement that somebody showed a video illustrating how easy it was to turn off street lighting! Is this rational? I do not assume so.

I think that lasers are remarkable when employed for anything like surgical procedure, eyesight improvement, astronomy and of course armed forces aspects. They may be utilized for so much which is good except it continuously seems to be the case that with each first-rate employment there is a bad one.

I wonder if it could be a beneficial item to always have with you when you go hiking into the wilderness anywhere that could be. If you were lost and it signified others had to search for you how perceptible you might be if you had a green laser pointer to direct their awareness to your whereabouts. It should save hours or search time.

It must be stressed that these must on no account be put in the hands of children because they will in no way consider that it can be hazardous. They might consider Luke Skywalker is the bees knees and they would like to be just similar to him, but, I should never desire to be in the path of youngsters wielding a 50mW green laser pointer!

I recognize that it is viable to buy a 50mW 2 in 1 green laser star pointer projector, this contains a pattern cap which I think will cast stars on to your own walls and/or ceiling. I would like to witness that.

You are going to more than likely discover that when you push the ‘on’ push button that it does not remain on. To be continuously ON is not believed ’safe’.

Enjoy and be safe.

5mw Green Laser Pointer

February 23rd, 2010 | No Comments

As soon as you resolve to obtain a laser pointer you are going to need to carry out your groundwork. As with any product there are going to be fine class items and dreadful quality.

Take for instance the IR [infra red] filter, a number of manufacturers do not incorporate them into their pointers because of the additional production overheads and the time it takes to include the filter. Plus when a filter is included it cuts down on the concentration of the beam somewhat.

You have to inquire what kind of assurance you might get. If the pledge is merely 30 days – 3 months you can expect the product is inferior in some way and the manufacturers imagine it to break down rather speedily.

If on the other hand, you get guaranties above 6 months then you could take that as a notice that the producers have faith in their merchandise and so can you.

In what way are the inner and external parts fabricated, are they inferior acrylic or are they made from something more substantial similar to metal? Are you able to discern if the lenses are glass or plastic for the reason that plastic positively would not withstand the test of time.

You could be coerced by the 5mW green laser pointer description and by the fact that it is lawful in the US that it is some sort of plaything – it most definitely is not and should by no means be put into the hands of children.

Were you conscious that even a 5 mW laser pointer could retain a beam of 2 miles? What about a 15mW beam – are you aware that this could blind an individual as much as 20 miles distant? Are you also conscious, taking these details into consideration that pointers having 45mW power are obtainable over the net and many containing much extra power but they are getting into the vicinity of lasers used for shows, they are never hand-held articles plus they are incredibly costly.

I am not meaning to appear totally hostile to these 5mW green laser pointers if they are used for enjoyment and sensibly, however I do think that there have been many instances of people being thoroughly brainless and shining them at inward bound planes. There have been hundreds of recorded disruptions since the early 1990’s and unhappily this amount is increasing for the reason of the inexpensiveness of these type of pointers.

that the beam will blind a pilot temporarily so that he is unable to see his instruments, he is unable to distinguish his airstrip, his complete cabin would be illuminated and he wouldn’t have the ability to function properly, he might be sightless. How brainless is that when an plane is approaching to land with possibly hundreds of persons on board.

This is the type of conduct unfortunately that gets everybody who like laser pointers a damaging name. I am certain that merely a minority of individuals would be that asinine and idiotic but noticeably there are individuals out there who don’t utilize the brains that God gave them to think things through.

Don’t belong to this group – employ your pointer appropriately, carry out your trials and have fun. Don’t be accountable for any accidents, maybe lethal.
